The Filmmaker
Eliane Raheb is a Lebanese film director known for her acclaimed short films and documentaries. Among her notable works is the feature documentary Sleepless Nights, which ranked 5th in Sight and Sound magazine's list of the best documentaries of 2013 and is available on Netflix. Another key achievement is her feature documentary Those Who Remain, which has been screened at over 70 film festivals and won 7 awards. Her third feature documentary, Miguel's War, premiered at the Berlinale Panorama in 2021, where it won the prestigious Teddy Award for Best Feature Film.
Raheb’s work is known for its raw and deeply personal storytelling, often exploring themes of war, trauma, and identity. In addition to her filmmaking, Eliane Raheb is a founding member of the Association for Cinema "AFLAMUNA" (formerly Beirut DC) and served as the artistic director of Beirut Cinema Days for six editions. She is currently the artistic director of the REEF Festival.
