Brother’s Keeper

Winner of the FIPRESCI Prize at the Berlin International Film Festival’s Panorama section, this film tells the story of Yusuf and his best friend Memo, who are students at a boarding school for Kurdish boys in the mountains of Eastern Anatolia. When Memo falls mysteriously ill, Yusuf struggles to overcome bureaucratic obstacles put up by the school’s repressive authorities in order to help his friend.

The Filmmaker

Ferit Karahan’s feature debut The Fall From Heaven won Best Film at the Antalya Film Festival and Best First Film at the Ankara Film Festival, later screened at more than 15 festivals, winning 10+ awards.

Ferit’s second feature film Brother’s Keeper premiered at the Berlinale, receiving the FIPRESCI award. It has won more than 25 awards and has been screened at more than 100 festivals including Cannes, BFI London, Karlovy Vary, Sarajevo, Moscow, Chicago and Tallinn Black Nights. The film is on display in many cities around the world including Greece, France, Portugal, Argentine, and Mexico City.
